In this workshop we will create a block print comic strip with three panels or three scenes. Each participant will have the opportunity to design their own characters and storyline, using simple yet effective block printing techniques. We’ll start by sketching out our ideas on paper, crafting unique narratives that can be told visually. Once the concepts are solidified, we’ll transfer these designs onto linoleum blocks.

With tools in hand, we’ll carefully carve out the negative spaces, bringing our drawings to life in reverse relief. This process requires patience and precision, but the results are incredibly rewarding. After carving, we’ll apply ink to our blocks and press them onto paper to reveal our comic strip creations.

This hands-on experience not only teaches the fundamentals of block printing but also encourages creativity and storytelling. By the end of the workshop, you’ll walk away with your own handmade comic strip and a newfound appreciation for this timeless art form.
