Bekka Madeleine’s EP Release Concert

from $0.00

'BEKKA' AT DZANC HOUSE, 11/13

[6:30 pm - Doors at 6 pm - 402 S. Huron Street - Sliding Scale Donations for Tickets]

Emerging indie-pop artist Bekka and her sister Hannah Taschka-Port bring the songs of her new EP to Dzanc House on 11/13. Titled "Don't you got better things to do?", the release takes us on a journey through inner emigration and resilience. The songs are co-written with Hannah, whose lyrics are rich and meaningful, but also melancholic and cutting (one of the tracks is literally called 'it's a frat boy state of mind'). The EP grapples with what it feels like to grow up in an American society plagued by hypocrisies and violence.

Bekka's classically trained voice is a rare instrument that brings warmth and impressive vocal control to all her songs--and the Dzanc House will be a perfect venue to experience the power of that voice up close. What's more, the sisters will make a rare appearance together, switching between a musical performance of Bekka's songs and commentary by Hannah. This evening also signals the beginning of a beautiful collaboration with printmaker Amanda May Moore, who made some artwork inspired by their music--something Bekka and Hannah are very excited about.

Join Bekka for an evening of embracing the human condition of searching for meaning and a celebration of making and listening to music together, and to choosing that over everything easier.
