About the House
Set in the heart of the vibrant and bustling city of Ypsilanti MI, Dzanc’s residency program is in a beautifully renovated house historical which features six bedrooms and three bathrooms, studio space, reading room, event space, and two large porch areas.
This 3,068 sq ft. historic Queen Anne Victorian home built in 1895 has undergone major transformations over the past 15 years to become a space of endless possibility. This house has been used for various purposes over its 100 year plus history—in civil and divergent ways. In the near past it was purchased as a family home, then purchased, remodeled, and sold to Dzanc Books with the hopes of creating a community hub that celebrates the arts and the local scene. This home has been outfitted with modern touches without disrupting its historical charm.
Dzanc House sits on the corner of S. Huron St. & Buffalo St. in Ypsilanti, MI. Blocks away from Eastern Michigan University. This grand home been repurposed as a communal space that privileges artful exchange in a city that is replete with the history of liberation and profound community resources.
